A useful restaurant listing checklist helps sellers describe the opportunity accurately and answer buyer questions efficiently. Before publishing a restaurant for sale listing, confirm who may authorize the sale and gather documents that support each material claim.
Prepare the business information
Write a factual overview of concept, service model, location, hours, seating, lease status and what is included. Assemble financial statements, tax records, sales reports, payroll, inventory, equipment schedules, permits and inspection records. Identify gaps and have advisers review sensitive information before sharing it.
Make the premises easy to understand
Use current, accurate photos of customer areas, kitchen, storage and exterior, with permission and without revealing confidential details. Label equipment and fixtures that are included, leased or excluded. Describe known repairs and access limits; do not use old photos or imply a patio, permit or asset transfers unless confirmed.
Set a controlled inquiry process
Decide what can be shared before and after an NDA, who handles buyer questions and how private viewings will avoid disrupting service. Keep statements consistent across the listing and later documents. Buyers will verify figures, lease, permits and operation; see our buying guide for the review they may conduct.
Have legal and accounting advisers check the materials and transaction terms.
